FAQ & Job
Where does the name Il Cuoco Galante come from?

Il Cuoco Galante (The Gentleman Cook) is the title of a cookbook written by Italian philosopher Vincenzo Corrado in the late 18th century.

With this book, Vincenzo Corrado aimed to spread the art of good taste at the table and anchor in Italian culture such basic culinary staples as tomatoes, potatoes, and coffee.

From his successful cookbook, Neapolitan street vendors adopted the tomato sauce recipe, which is cooked with a pinch of salt and a few basil leaves, to top their macaroni and, in the 19th century, their mozzarella pizza.

Was Il Cuoco Galante, founded in 2014, the first bistro-style restaurant in Paris to focus on fresh pasta?

Indeed, it can be said that it was. Many restaurants use dried pasta that is commercially available because it is less work and often less expensive. However, the taste of fresh pasta is better in texture, more digestible, and incomparable.

Eating fresh pasta is a luxury that we must be aware of.

Do you only eat pasta at Il Cuoco Galante?

Of course not. The menu promotes various Italian dishes such as antipasti (Italian appetizers) and many other Italian specialties like tartares, carpaccios, soups, risotto, etc. In addition, there is always a meat or fish dish on the menu.

Are all pasta gluten-free?

No, most pastas contain gluten. Depending on our recipes and our inspiration at the moment, you will be able to taste pasta with other cereals such as buckwheat. If you do not want gluten, check the vegetables antipasti and meat or fish dish.

Are all wines from Italy?

Yes, they are. All from small producers from different parts of Italy, all produced with limited inputs.

Please contact us on +33 1 40 37 35 53 and we will find the place you can find.
May I reserve for more than 6 persons?

Yes of course. Send your request to reservations@ilcuocogalante.com. You can also contact the hotline on +33 1 40 37 35 53 (see details on the hotline in the first question above).

Is it possible to pair the food with the wine?
Of course. Each tasting plate is an opportunity to discover an Italian wine region, one or more grape varieties or a winemaking technique. Ask the advice of the sommelier, it is worth it.
For 8 persons, is a menu obligatory or is an à la carte choice still possible?

For 8 guests and more, a menu is indeed required:
– for lunch: Antipasti-Pasta-Dolci
– for dinner: Carte Blanche Tasting Menu.

This menu ensures that diners receive their meals at the same time, whereas an a la carte choice does not enable it.

How does the bank imprint request work?

A bank imprint is requested when making the reservation to guarantee the seriousness of your reservation and to limit the impact of late cancellations and no shows on the restaurant’s activity. We are all responsible. In case of impediment, we ask you to cancel your reservation as soon as possible and at the latest 6 hours before the time of your reserved meal so that you are not debited with the amount of the bank imprint.
In case of non-cancellation or cancellation within 6 hours before your meal, you will be charged the total amount of the bank imprint.
Please note: the account debit request is automatically canceled at the end of your visit to our restaurant.
